Webinar Update: Current Online Webinar Opportunities Brain Tumor Vaccine Shows Promise in KidsCHICAGO -- High-grade gliomas in children have shown evidence of responsiveness to a vaccine developed from glioma-associated antigens, according to a small study reported here. The vaccine led to stable disease or response in 19 of 22 patients, including three partial responses and one minor response. One other patient had prolonged disease-free survival after tumor resection. In general, the vaccine was well tolerated; the most common adverse effect was grade 1-2 flu-like symptoms. No patients developed grade 3-4 toxicity. Eight of 11 brain-stem glioma patients with adequate follow up have survived beyond the historical median of 10.5 months," Ian F. Pollack, MD, of the University of Pittsburgh, said during a press briefing at the American Association for Cancer Research meeting. Read more here. |
